In addition, server licenses come with benefits that are different from those for desktop licenses. Software Assurance is optional for this promotion.

Customer Eligibility Requirements

To acquire a Windows 7 Professional upgrade license, the customer must have a license for a qualifying Windows desktop operating system, such as Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista Business.
